Icom proudly announces the debut of the new VHF marine transceiver, IC-M603. The M603 is upgraded from the IC-M601, having compatibility with latest COMMANDMICIII™ as well as existing COMMANDMICII™.
The radio is ideal for the large pleasure boat, fishing vessels (non-SOLAS) and boat builder industries. Its excellent waterproofing, user-friendly operation, and multiple functions keep this model as Icom’s "flagship" VHF marine transceiver.

The M603 accepts simultaneous connection of up to two COMMANDMICIIIs™.
Increased hailer output power to 30W
A 30W amplifier is built-in to the M603 and 2-Way hailer function and fog horn is available
with an external hailer horn.

RX speaker function
The RX speaker function, “receiver-repeater” allows you to monitor the received radio audio from a hailer horn on the deck or tower. You can make an announcement on-board from the microphone.
Hand microphone can be connected to either front or back panel
The hand microphone can be detached from the front panel and can be connected to the rear
panel without any modification required. This allows flexible panel installation and is ideal for the boat builder industry. An optional 6.1m (20ft) microphone extension cable, OPC-1000, is available with the M603.
Improved GPS information indication
When connecting to an external GPS receiver, the GPS information indication function shows course and speed data as well as position,
date and time on the display.
Favourite channel function
This function allows for quicker channel selection. Set the “Tag” channel to the channels used most often. When pushing the up/down buttons on the hand microphone, only the tagged channels are selected, while untagged channels are skipped.
Improved receiver performance
The IC-M603 has 0.22ìV (typical) superior receiver sensitivity. The IC-M603 has class-leading
superior receiver performance for sensitivity, adjacent channel selectivity, intermodulation and spurious response.
AquaQuake draining function
AquaQuake draining function emits a vibrating sound and clears water away from the speaker grill.
When the optional COMMANDMICIII™is connected to the IC-M603, this function also works with it.
OTHER RETAINED FEATURES
ITU Class D DSC built-in
The IC-M603 has built-in Class D DSC, which enables you to constantly monitor channel 70.
This functionality provides users at sea with the peace of mind that they can call for help if the need arises.
Large LCD with dot-matrix characters
The IC-M603 has the same 168-character, full-dot matrix display as the IC-M601. It allows you to easily view a variety of information, such as GPS data, DSC emergency data, etc.
The large buttons and knobs provide user friendly operation.
Position Request and Position Report
Over and above the DSC, your own and other ships’ position data can be exchanged with the position request or position report functions. The received position information can be transferred to external navigation equipment*. In addition, the polling (request/reply) function checks whether a specific ship is within the communication range.
* External GPS receiver and navigation equipment which accepts NMEA 0183 format is required.
Durable waterproof construction equivalent to IPX7
To withstand all demands of the marine environment, the IC-M603 has a tough, waterproof
body equivalent to IPX7. The IC-M603 can withstand submersion in 1m of water for up to 30
minutes.
4x8-inch flush mount body
The IC-M603 stays with the popular 4-inch (110 mm) tall design. When used with the
IC-M801E HF/MF marine transceiver, a complete communications station can be neatly and
effectively installed in the instrument panel.
Excellent audio output power
The extra large speaker (66mm) is mounted into a well-spaced housing, producing greater sound than the specified 2.0W* output power. You can get clear and loud reception without requiring repetition of the message, even over the engine or other background noise.
